This may very well have been the most fun, and most successful Appleseed I've ever had the pleasure of running. I want to thank the Butte Gun Club, and their board members, for hosting us. I also want to thank my fellow instructors for joining us. I also want to thank mtsheepdog and woodwerks in particular for all of their exceptionally hard work to not only get us access to the range, but also building all the target backers and the target line. We could not have done this without you.
11 shooters joined us for a 2 day KD shoot in Butte, America. By Sunday afternoon a full 8 of them were KD Riflemen! We started and ended each day with Morgan's Shingle. I am pleased to report that 4 of our shooters are now Morgan's riflemen, at distance.
After Morgan's shingle, we shot 10 round groups on sighter squares to confirm zero before moving out to 100, 200, 300, and 400 yards. Shooters collected dope on their rifle and learned how to adjust their sights/holds to compensate for their rifle and ammo's trajectory. Shooters were also gifted sustained 3-5 mph winds all day, with a few 10-15mph and even one or two 25mph gusts here and there. There is no better way to learn about shooting in the wind, than by shooting in the wind. Shooters also learned how environmental factors affect their zero and come ups.
All in all, we were able to squeeze in 6 AQTs over the weekend. I had an absolute blast with each and everyone of you. I hope to have another KD shoot in Butte again soon!

Fred never intended for Appleseed to be a 25meter event, but wanted to teach American to be able to shoot the Rifleman's quarter mile. It was an honor to be able to attend this event and watch some Americans achieve this goal.
I will be running the CKD event in Coeur d'Alene on Oct 24/25 and there are a few spaces still available. Come out and show that you can shoot the KD rifleman score and another event.
