:partytime: Prepper Camp 2026 is in the books! :partytime:
Project Appleseed had the honor of being one of the 81 classes offered this year at Prepper Camp's new venue in Tryon, NC. Our hosts, Rick and Jane outdid themselves for another year. This one was a bit warmer than years past, with the heat index hovering around 110°. YIKES!!! While we were happy to wish Rick a happy birthday, we're already looking forward to next year's October event.
Each day of the 3-day event Devereux and I gave a one hour talk about our program and some of what people could see at our rifle event. We covered a bit of history, how to use a sling, prone position, natural point of aim, talking targets, and inches, minutes, and click - that's quite a lot in just an hour. We fielded some GREAT questions and hopefully sparked an interest in people from all over the country and even a few from other countries. We also had a booth set up in vendor alley. We spoke with hundreds of people over the course of 3 hot and humid days. Some stayed for a mint, some stayed for the fan, some stayed for an hour to talk about all things Project Appleseed. We met some friendly faces of shooters of past events. I hope we'll see a lot of people we met on the line of an event soon!

Devereux and a boy are deep in discussion. This is about 90 minutes into their talk. The kid had awesome questions and was shown how to use a sling and get into different positions.

What a beautiful spot on the lake. It took everything in us not to jump in.

The evil sun rises yet again. I suppose it's better than not rising. But it was HOT!

A well-earned Caliente patch. This was a brutal introduction as a volunteer for Artie. I promise most aren't this hot. At least we learned a lot from the other classes and the company was fantastic.

Every year Rick and Jane thank the speakers with a gift. Devereux accepted it for us - a water bottle that filters the water.
