We had a fantastic pistol clinic in Ankeny, Iowa on 08Aug2026. Ten people showed up to learn about our great heritage of liberty and pistol marksmanship. To help them with that endeavor we had four very capable instructors. Everyone started out shooting well and then improved throughout the day. Josh cleared the hits count target both times and re-qualified on all four PQT targets while shooting his .45 caliber 1911. His high score for the day was 236. Dalton earned his Pistoleer™™ patch by shooting a 224. Adam re-qualified with a 219. Three others got really close. Brian shot a 202 with his .22, Shannon shot a 194 with his 9mm, and Mike had a 198 shooting his .45 caliber 1911. If we had a most improved award that would have gone to Melinda. There were lots of other great scores but unfortunately I didn't manage to write them all down. All in all everyone did very well.
Many thanks to Mark who brought four tables and three pop-up canopies to provide our firing line and shelter from the sun along with helping with instructions. Many thanks to Adam and Cody who did a fantastic job performing RSO duties and coaching, along with helping out with administrative duties. And many thanks to all the shooters who were a real pleasure to work with and for all the help taking down at the end of the day.
I also need to thank the Ankeny Izaak Walton club for allowing us to use their excellent range.
