Title: Palmerton, PA AAR – August 8-9, 2026 – Rifle Clinic
Post by: Yates on August 10, 2026, 12:12:54 PM
Special thanks to the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club for hosting us this past weekend.  They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic.  And we are headed back there again next year.

We all had a great weekend of marksmanship and heritage.  The shooters all persevered through the heat and humidity, and we saw significant improvement as the weekend progressed.  We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage.  There were several minor fit and equipment issues throughout the weekend, quickly corrected by the knowledgeable staff.  Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction, and especially the history and heritage, necessitating many stories.

All but one returned on Sunday, and we worked through more instruction and began our AQT's. All showed consistent improvement as the day progressed.  Huzzah!  Antique firearms and other equipment from the age were shown, highlighting the challenges of the day and leading right into the stories of David Lamson and Samual Whittemore.

The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets; four shooters qualified as Rifleman – Kayleigh, Kyle, Chris and Bryan (with his bolt action).  And they also cleared the Redcoat target, with Kayleigh doing one of them seated and cleared all 4 Redcoats over the weekend.  And Kyle and Bryan did it with their bolt action rifles.  Huzzah!

Thanks to all the shooters, instructors and the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club for a great weekend.
