Yup, you read that right! Beginning as soon as late 2026, the CMP has been authorized to begin selling M14 rifles. They will be "permanently and irreversibly modified" to semi-automatic but will otherwise be as John C. Garand designed them.

I foresee a change in the tides coming.
The days of 99% rimfire Appleseed events are coming to an end.
The roar of the 308 Appleseed line is coming back!
Oh...My...GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!
I am quite literally doing a happy dance in ^:)^ ^:)^ my chair! :F :F :--- :cool2:
Anyone got a couple thousands dollars I can have?
Anyone got a couple thousands dollars I can have?
How fast will that sell out and how long with that waiting list be? I bet fast and long.
I'm personally more interested in this than a M1 Garand. It is 13 Ms better!
COOL!! :---

I just picked up a CMP 308 Garand, so, there's that.
Ammo is still pretty spendy though, even bulk. Or reloading.
Nothing worth having ever seems cheap when acquired.
But trust me when I tell you that these are the 'good ole days' when it comes to ammo prices.
MrGuns&Gear YouTube did a break down on what this might look like. I found it very informative.

Not sure if it was him, but some internet personalities are predicting that the cost will be around 4k. I would only pay that if it were in Excellent to like new condition.
It will be interesting to see what they go for.

Yes, it was mentioned that they may sell for upwards of $4k. To rich for my blood. LOL
I was unaware of the history of them though and how many were given/sold to other countries or merely destroyed during the Clinton administration.
I presume this may be one reason to the high price tag as there are so few left. That and the need to remachine the recievers to be semi-auto.

Word from the CEO of the CMP is that there will be "well in excess of 100,000" and that price will be below $2k.
There are A LOT of people that just need to say something, anything, without a clue what reality is.

Excess of 100k is a far cry from the 1.4 million that were originally produced. I hope the price is lower than $4k but even at $2k it is still to rich for my blood. LOL
There's a Benelli shotgun Ixve been eyeing for YEARS. Just can't afford a firearm over $1k. Crap, I can barely afford one for $500! HAHAHA
This is very good news but it is unlikely that I will try to get one because
A. I already own a Springfield M1A which I have spent apx 3 grand on including the original purchase price.
B. I am 69 and not getting younger.
C. If I had a spare 15 hundred to 2 grand l would have spent it with SEI trying to make my current M1A more accurate or purchase a higher end AR-15.
But I am glad CMP is going to be selling these. I love the idea of riflemen getting their hands on these.
" Thirty caliber, turning cover into concealment for over 85 years" :F

700000 rifles and handguns sold since 1968 and they just got 100000 m14s. I think there is enough to go around
Guess I'm gonna wait a bit longer to get those teeth put in my head.

This kind of .30 caliber for sure.

I'm curious whether these will be arsenal refinished, beaters, etc.
Premium condition will almost certainly go to Auction. As to the rack and field grades, that's what I expect be available for less than $2k. It's amazing home many casual shooters have already mentioned this release to me. I am looking forward to more remarks from CMP personnel rather than internet personalities looking for clicks.
