Our annual July event in Skowhegan did NOT feature the mid-90 degree heat that it normally does. Yes, it does get that hot in Maine. The weather for this year's event was classic Maine summertime mid 70's with bright sunshine. Maybe that helped to inspire our 17 shooters, who worked hard in all the right ways. Maybe it was hearing the stories of 1775?
By the end of the event, 14 rifleman patches were won. Only five were re-qualifications! I have never seen things come together that nicely. Many of the scores shot up after we carded the sights and one of the new riflemen put four out of five in the black 1" square with the fifth just off. It seemed like a turning point.
It was a rewarding weekend for sure.
