Title: Ranger, GA AAR - July 12-13, 2026 Pistolseed
Post by: UpACreek on July 15, 2026, 04:42:36 PM
What a great event to break in the new Pistolseed program here in GA.  The gray skies of Monday were a welcome reprieve from the 95° we had on Sunday (including heat index).  8 shooters were able to make it and we were lucky enough to have 3 senior instructors join us.  Cokeguy chose to shoot with a few tips, tricks, and history along the way.  Floridians, Gunjunkie and JustKim traveled up and provided great instruction all weekend.  Centimeter provided half the shooters and was an excellent line boss for nearly the whole shoot.  These shooters though, as always, are the stars of the show.  They were enthusiastic and soaked up the instruction.  This was Houston's third Appleseed and first at a Pistolseed.  He teamed up with Centimeter for our Ball & Dummy drill and attributes Centimeter's extra instruction during the drill as the edge he needed for scoring our only Pistoleer™ score of the weekend - the pictures show the two perfecting that perfect practice.  Congrats, Houston!!!  Shawna was our lone new Appleseeder.  She had to leave early, but was able to triple her PQT score!!!  David had to work Monday  :'( , but was great to see again.  He did very well and I'm sure will do great at his next event.  Cokeguy was steady all weekend, setting a great example of the fundamentals we teach. Unfortunately just a shot or two shy of that coveted Pistoleer™ score due to one stage or another.  (been there, done that - d'oh!) Our weekend volunteers that were able to cycle through shooting were both a single shot away from Pistoleer™ scores. Last but not least, my neighbors were able to make it!  I'm so glad they heard about the shoot on Friday and were able to squeeze in thanks to gunjunkie and JustKim helping out.  They are also veteran Appleseeders attending their first Pistolseed.  Both are accomplished shooters outside of Appleseed and made steady progress throughout the weekend.  I sure hope to see them all again soon.

This new program is great! I'm excited to see the progress made during 2 day events and the new drills are so much fun.

JustKim, gunjunkie, and Centimeter have earned their GA patches.  Thank you for all you do for us!

Some of us on Monday.  What a beautiful day.  It was overcast, with occasional sun.

The ball & dummy drill is fantastic.  Cokeguy is coaching Shawna on her stance.

Centimeter jumped in as a shooter and teamed up with Houston with the ball & dummy drill.  If you look closely, you'll see how mean Centimeter was (they're friends and was welcome), balancing brass on the slide of Houston's pistol.  It fixed his errors and he shot a PQT shoot right after.  Not a coincidence!  Great job both of you.

Houston earned the sole Pistoleer™ patch of the weekend.  Congratulations!!!

Our future orange hat made a great model for our Monday morning review.

We only had one early cease fire on Sunday.  Thank you, David, for saving the flock of turkeys moseying past the target line while we were shooting.  Bambi and friends were also unfazed coming out a bit later.

Looks like a great event! Awesome to see Kim and Chuck up here. And to see Ev putting rounds down range. Congratulations Houston! As you can tell, it is not something we just give away. Well done Pistoleer™!

First though was, weirdest turkeys I've ever seen, but then I kept reading.  Looks like a great event.

I didn't get my camera out fast enough for the turkeys and turkeys are ugly, especially the babies.  There were a LOT of babies.
