I want to thank our great host, Deer Creek Conservation Club, for hosting us again. We have several events here annually. They pull out the red carpet every time we are there. I am very grateful to the board for their support and the membership for allowing us to use this great facility.
We had 4 shooters on the line running in 2 relays all weekend. Bob and Kate took advantage of relay 2 as it allowed them to see the drills and stages shot before it was their turn to engage targets. Our first Hits Count Target showed there was great room for improvement and we moved through the day with well-practiced instruction. At the end of the day, Tom was able to clear the Hits Count Target and get his first George Rogers Clark Quarter for Pistol.
Day two started with a quick review of the prior day's instruction and another conversation about bi/trifocal glasses and the need to hard-focus on the front sight. We ran some remedial drills and moved on to a PQT. Tom distinguished himself by requalifying as a Pistoleerâ„¢. We had a great discussion about red dot optics and learning how the presentation is the same, but the muzzle is usually a little high because you naturally want to follow the front sight to the target. We ran the Whitlock drill with great success and shot another PQT, followed by the Hits Count Target. Bob cleared the Hits Count Target and was awarded one of those coveted quarters. He did it using Tom's Buckmark and an optic. Prior to the event, Bob had limited success with optics. This was a good experience for him.
I want to thank my incredible crew of JHB, Echo Charlie, TheGunsliningGamer, and Traveling man for supporting me at this event. I was having some medical issues and they ran a great event.
