Title: AAR Perryville, MO RKD June 13-14, 2026
Post by: 209Ken on June 16, 2026, 09:20:13 PM
We had a small group of shooters show up for the first ever Rimfire Known Distance shoot in Missouri.

The weather cooperated for about half the day on Saturday. After some instruction under the Liberty Tree, we started with a cold bore shot at Morgan's Shingle. We had one hit! Steve will be joining Captain Morgan's elite company of Riflemen.
Then we started collecting data and getting through the first AQT. When we finished, not surprisingly, Steve had earned his Rimfire KD patch with a 44! Then the clouds moved in and the rain started. We called it a day after the second AQT was shot in the rain.

Sunday promised better weather and when we started shooting AQT's, Greg and Bonnie were both knocking at the door. At the end of the day, on the last AQT, Bonnie scored a 42 for her RKD patch!  ^:)^

With some extra room on the line, our instructor cadre was able to get some trigger time, M-Dawg and yours truly were able to earn their RKD patch, P51Mustang and Flintlock54 both re-qualified as well.

I want to thank our small group of shooters for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the weekend. It was a pleasure shooting with you.

And a special thank you to Flintlock54 for providing the range and having it all set up for us when we show up on Saturday. We really appreciate it!

Please post pictures if you have some, I'll get some up soon!

We enjoyed the fun weekend, and consider the Soggyseed experience on Saturday a good trade vs Bonnie having trouble with hot weather.  Thanks to all the team there.

We learned some good lessons.  First, we should have brought the rooftop box, which would have helped us better deal with wet gear.  I appreciate Mike's coaching points, and Bonnie also benefitted from help, especially reminders to make her scope adjustments!!  I now need to push my scope farther forward, which means milling off teeth at the back end for clearance if I want to keep my low ring height.  And I need to tackle that darn seated position.  Hopefully then I'll raise my 32 score into door-knocking territory.

And hey, no pictures?

Even with the rain it was a great time! All three shooters required a minimum level of instruction, and they were all nailing the targets! I've not shot a rimfire KD before, and it really fleshed out my equipment and techniques. All-in-all, it was an excellent shoot! Thank you, Steve, for letting us use your property! Really nice location and setup!
Huzzah to all involved!
