Driving North on 93 bright and early on a Saturday morning can be breathtaking. As the elevation increases and the sun moves higher the eastern slopes are beautiful. I travel through Franconia Notch past Mt. Liberty, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Layfayette and Echo Lake on my way to Alder Brook Sportsmen in Littleton, NH. We conducted our first RKD at Alder Brook and it went off as a huge success. We had 9 shooters partake over the two days. Saturday, after some instruction we posted Morgan's Shingle. Al, Ryan and the SB made the cold bore shot. We proceeded to gather our rifle data and build the come-up tables. We heard a story of loss at Alamance Creek and finished out the bright, sunny, and windless day with some impressive scores but no KD Riflemen. HamGun posted an impressive 38/50.
Sunday proved to be a little warmer and as the afternoon progressed started to feel the breeze building. Pop up thunderstorms were forecasted and we could see them approaching. Ryan and Range Dog were ever so close with a 39 and 38 and we persisted for another AQT. This time, things aligned and Ryan and Range Dog put up a 41 and 43. Congratulations to both of you. Even the SB got in on the action and qualified 200y RKD.
Louis and Sebastian made great strides on Saturday but couldn't return Sunday. Brent, Al, TomW were right there but some equipment issues started to show. We were able to have the instructors get at least one AQT in as well.
Thank you to Alder Brook Sportsmen for the support and use of the Square Range. It's a great setup for the 200 yard RKD and we will be back!
HamGun earned his 10 shoot pin.
