I've looked all over. I've searched. I can't find anything that documents all the official Appleseed patches and their requirements. It seems like it should be documented on the main website, or at least a pinned thread here.
So, what are all the official patches one can earn, and what are the requirements for each?
I'll start a list.
Rifleman - 210 or higher on 25m AQT,
or 40 or more on KD AQT
Distinguished - Iron sights - 230 or more on 25m AQT,
Optic - 240 or more on 25m AQT,
??? at a KD
250 - shoot a 250 (using 30 cal rule) on a 25m AQT,
??? any similar patch for a KD?
Morgan's Rifleman - hit a shingle on the first shot from a cold bore. Shingle at 250 yds at a KD or half-sized shingle at 125 yards at a rimfire KD
Can someone fill in the blanks there?
Are there other patches one can earn?
Thanks!

Those are the basic patches that you mention.
Distinguished at a KD is 46 hits in the black with iron sights and 48 in the black with optics.
Sometimes, depending where you are and if the shoot boss has the extra large paper targets, you can count points. We have those large targets in Texas, at least at New Braunfels, and you can count points. I witnessed a skilled shooter score a 250 and he was awarded a 250 patch.
There are other, special versions, of the Rifleman patch that are available from time to time. One that comes to mind is a red white and blue patch that can be earned at a shoot that is close to, or on, April 19th.
If you shoot Morgan's Shingle standing you can also be awarded at gold star for your Morgan's Shingle patch. I've seen some shoot bosses award that and others that did not. Perhaps it is not an official Appleseed thing, the gold star.
There are quite a few other patches associated with Appleseed that are not shooting skills related. Some are the state in which you reside, one is called Battle Road (for those Appleseeders who have walked on Battle Road in Masschusetts), and some others. I'll try to find it, but a year or two ago, there was a post on these forums about the kinds and styles of patches associated with Appleseed.
Hope this helps.
Gus
Thank you, Gus!
The standing shingle is an official AS thing. A gold appurtenance is mailed to the shooter, while supplies last. A perfect, all shots in the paper 5, full-power KD gets a 250. The Winterseed Riflleman is a qualification for Rifleman as usual, but the weather must be an "impediment to spirit" which basically means cold AND awful. If you qualify Rifleman on a KD shoot, you get a Known Distance Bar, likewise, on a rimfire KD you get a Rimfire KD bar.
In addition to those already mentioned, that comprises the rifle program's patches.
There are patches for the instructor program, patches for the Pistolseed program, morale patches, and special event patches. We *LIKE* our patches, and we like telling people at the event what is eligible to be earned. Pleasant surprises are always nice.
Cool. Thanks for the additional info, Big John!
Pistoleer Patches to include Distinguished.

Ah, yes! And are the score requirements the same as for a 25m clinic?
I.e. 210 for Pistoleer, 230 for Distinguished using Iron sights, 240 for Distinguished using an optic?

Yes.
Also there are accomplishment bars for KD and Rimfire KD clinics for shooting a qualifying score at one.
We all do love our patches! Why else would we offer such a variety?
Remember, though, to focus on the front sight. In this case, the front sight is the process.
Keep your attention where it needs most to be - the process - and the hits on target will come. Followed by awesome patches :cool2:

While helping/learning at the Wilmington, OH shoot recently, I learned about the Winter Appleseed/Winterseed patch.

Apparently, I can't upload a screenshot to show you, but when I click that link I get an error that says "this link requires you to be logged into the forum to check your instructor level."
And, obviously, I am logged in.

My mistake. Since you are not an Appleseed Volunteer (Applecore or Instructor in Training), you do not have access to TIPS. Sorry!

Does the Infernoseed patch still exist?
Ahaha the old Infernoseed. :)
Does it exist? yes... but it is likely the rarest patch around. It was at one time an informal patch only for the state of Fl. For a while it was retired completely but I believe it has officially been brought back but it comes with a catch.
I looked for an official post which I think there is one but all I could find was the below quote from Maximum Ordinate.
Infernoseed. The "infernoseed" patch was an informal patch presented by members of the Florida cadre. It has very strict award criteria, if I'm not mistaken. If I have the legend correct, that patch was created by a well-beloved volunteer (Smoak) who has since gone on to meet the Founders. Thru mutual agreement with FL leadership, this patch will stay in Florida and not become a national award.
https://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=65174.msg409448#msg409448
I am not positive if the above is still correct but I can for sure say the Infernoseed is a special patch and all us old timer Fl people are very proud of it and the fellow that created it.
It is currently 4pm in Florida and the feels like temperature is 107. Come shoot an AQT. :)

Caliente Seed patch in participating areas for hot weather.
Some states have patches that are awarded for various things like border raiding, bringing lots of new shooters, maybe clearing a redcoat , or multiple redcoats, various other things that deserve a bit of recognition. All Missouri instructors get one.
These aren't Appleseed issue, SC's buy em, but they're approved.
What we really need is an
Archive (https://appleseedinfo.org/academy/archives/) hosted in an instructor-accessible area. It could preserve pictures and stories of patches (https://appleseedinfo.org/academy/archive-patches-sh/), vintage targets, etc.
If such a mythical place existed, one might read:
Quote2025 Infernoseed patch. The Infernoseed patch was created by deceased Shoot Boss smoakinggun of Florida in 2012. For 13 years, it was an unofficial patch awarded only in Florida.
Effective January 1st, 2025, the Infernoseed patch is now an official Appleseed patch. The Shoot Boss Manual will be updated to reflect this change.
(Florida Shoot Bosses may special request these with a resupply order.)
Award Criteria: A shooter can earn an Infernoseed patch by successfully shooting a Rifleman's score under the following conditions:
- The event must be an official 25m rifle event. Miniseeds do not qualify.
- The event must take place within the State of Florida.
- The heat index must be greater than 100 degrees during the AQT.
- The AQT must be standard with four properly timed stages.
- This must be the shooter's first Appleseed rifle event. This patch will not be awarded at a shooter's subsequent Appleseed events.

The Florida crew established these guidelines when the patch was first created. When making this an official patch, Project Appleseed agreed to honor them.
Kind of a bummer for the inferno seed is that it must be the first earned.

It honors the wishes of the gentleman who created it.
The gentleman's forum name was SmoakingGun. He was a pillar in the Florida Appleseed team, but has since passed away - killed by a drunk driver. :(
How terrible. I love the culture of remembering contributors in the organization.
