The weekend was a little hotter than normal on Saturday, it was a record-breaking 93 degrees with very little wind. Sunday was a better day. The high was 89 degrees, sunny, and a light breeze, which made it a pretty nice day.
Saturday, we had six shooters come out. Four of them came from other states, and we were very honored to host this event for them. The day started out very well. All of the shooters were engaged and eager to work on their shooting skills. To break up the hot day, we had plenty of breaks and Off Paper, and K3 presented the first two strikes. We got in three PQTs, and one of our shooters got his first Pistoleer™™ qualification with the first PQT. By the end of the day, it was very hot.
The second day started with a quick review of the safety briefing and a quick review of the six steps of firing a shot. With fresh energy, we started right into PQTs. On the first PQT of the day, we had another shooter get a qualifying score as a Pistoleer™™ as well. I finished with the Third Strike in the morning. During one of our breaks, K3 told the story of "Sam and Sam" and covered gun belts and holsters, with plenty of hands-on examples. Everyone saw some improvement in their skills, and we had shooters taking on the ultimate challenge of using sub-compact pistols with iron sights for the event.
Over the weekend, the same shooters who earned Pistoleer™™ were also able to clear the hits Count target, earning the Maryland Immortal 400 state patch. Huzzah!
