This event was sold out more than a week in advance of the shoot!!! 17 of the 20 pre-registrations arrived bright and early on Saturday. What a great group of shooters. After the administrative details were finished we launched into the First Strike. The initial Redcoat targets showed we had some experienced prior shooters among us, but there was still room for improvement. Following the standard Rifle Course of Fire led to impressive groups on the first two squares targets and we moved right along. It was hot and humid but cloud cover (from impending rain) and a breeze made conditions tolerable. After Lunch and the Second Strike we moved to IMC and Rileman's Cadence. We shot 2 AQTs on Saturday afternoon (with a brief rain shower to cool things down) where 2 new Rifleman were revealed. Congratulations to Harry (TrueRifleman) and Gary. Carl IV and Carl V were close but just a little outside the score. The shooters demonstrated improvement on the Hits Count target. It rained and stormed most of the night, but Sunday morning was clear, bright and hot. 15 shooters returned and following a review of the instruction from Saturday, a couple squares to confirm zero, we did Ball & Dummy before the first of 5 AQTs on Sunday. Harry confirmed his score from Saturday (and took an Orange Hat) while the two Carls both shot the score.
Lunch allowed for several history presentations of Dangerous Old Men and Dames, Known Distance and Edree's muzzle-loading rifle demonstration. It was a great weekend and this Shoot Boss wants to express his extreme gratitude to the great group of Instructors who made the job easy and to the Shooters whose attendance allowed all the Instructors to shine.
