Can anyone recommend a stock that's similar to the Magpul stock but that has a stiffer fore end? I've been shooting well with it but as my rifle heats up in the sun my groups drift left and I can't help but imagine it's from the fore end pushing the barrel left under sling tension.
I have been very pleased with the Victor Company Titan 22. https://victorcompanyusa.com/titan22-rimfire-stock
I second the Titan 22. Great value.
Which Magpul 10/22 stock are you using? I have found the Hunter very stable and have not observed flexing. The X-22 MOE stock is not as rigid though.
But it really shouldn't shift if you are using consistent slug tension and body position. At least not appreciably.

I think it may have more to do with the direct sunlight, and 90+ temperature softening the plastic enough that it becomes the tiniest bit flexible.
I have the Luth-AR MCA-22 stock on my custom build. I have a long neck, so I need a long length of pull and this stock works very nicely for me.

Are you willing to open up the barrel channel? This would prevent it from pushing on the barrel.
You can use filler and glue to stiffen the stock. Spray foam may be enough to stiffen it.
Boyd's Pro Varmint? If you're open to laminate wood. Guarantee heat won't bother it.
Is that 10/22 a Takedown model?
I would also recommend the Victor Titan. I got mine used for $120. It's an excellent stock and they have cheek weld options, as well as a rear receiver pressure point to secure the receiver from the front and rear (just bought this Titan .22 Spike). The Magpul Hunter stocks appear to be better quality and hold up better to Appleseed and heavy sling use. We have had several MOE stocks on the line where the molded in sling swivels have broken and or caused barrel pressure shifting point of impact under tension.
Interesting the Boyd's, Victor and MCA are all the same price, ok, within 99c of the same price. The Boyd's wins best looking and saves all that money as a bonus. I could pay for 3-4 rounds with all the savings, ammo, not drinks. :)
Hey Prescott, we have the Luth AR stock on all of our loaners - very adjustable. Chuck (gunjunkie) has made some modifications to them, but we really like them.
Victor just came out with/or announced a lightweight version of the Titan. Got to check it out at the GOALs show. Essentially the same but without all the metal inserts.
