11 Patriots started Saturday morning under an overcast and rainy sky. The motto of the weekend was, "Rifleman Persist!" After completing standard instruction in the morning, we shot our first Hits Count Target, with three shooters clearing it! Huzzah!!
Throughout the course of the day, our shooters were introduced to standard marksmanship training and the heritage of our people. All of this was done while dodging rain and uncooperative weather. Riflemen persist, however, and one particular shooter, Alex, who has attended 24 Appleseed events, was able to secure his very first Rifleman patch with a qualifying score of 215! He has worked very hard over the past several years to build the skills needed to capture his prize! Huzzah! Huzzah!
Jeff re-qualified with a respectable 214! Huzzah! Tyler re-qualified with a solid 219! Huzzah! Huzzah!
Our evening Hits Count Target had one shooter clear! Huzzah!
Fortunately, the New Carlisle Sportsman Club has beautiful indoor facilities, which allowed us to remain relatively dry throughout the course of the weekend.
Sunday morning started with 9 Patriots under overcast skies and the imminent promise of rain on the way. After completing safety reviews and instruction, we shot our first Hits Count Target. Two shooters cleared! Huzzah!
Throughout the course of the day, additional instruction and drills were given on marksmanship. At lunch, members of the New Carlisle Sportsman Club donated and cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for both instructors and shooters!
Throughout the day, we told stories of Dangerous Old Patriots and shot many AQTs, along with a fun shoot! We saw multiple requalifications and new Riflemen!
Jeff re-qualified on every AQT with a high score of 232! Well done, sir!
Caleb secured his Rifleman patch with a respectable 213! Huzzah! He proved it was not a fluke and re-qualified again with a 219!
Tyler also re-qualified on every AQT and shot a high score of 241, earning him a Distinguished patch!! Huzzah! Huzzah! Congratulations, Tyler!
Alex reconfirmed with a solid 218! Huzzah!
David, a first-time attendee, secured his Rifleman patch with a beautiful score of 210! Huzzah! Huzzah!
We concluded the day by shooting our last Hits Count Target, with two shooters clearing it! Huzzah! Huzzah!
Throughout the course of the weekend, we saw consistent and continual improvement in marksmanship across the line.
Jeff chose to answer the call of Heritage and accepted an orange hat, joining the instructor cadre! Welcome, Jeff!
Thank you to each one of you who came out this weekend and braved the rain and mud. It was a joy to have each one of you on the line, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!
Special thanks to the New Carlisle Sportsman Club for opening up their facilities to us and allowing us to have this event!
Although it was overcast and raining most of the time on Sunday morning did see a little bit of sun!

We had a great class of shooters. They hung in there, even with the weather. A rifleman persists!
