Title: Ramseur, NC- KD AAR - Apr. 18-19, 2026
Post by: JustKim on April 25, 2026, 01:17:10 PM
We had 16 Patriots come out and shoot the KD on 18-19 April 2026!  This was a great group of people ranging in ages from 16 to 67 (sound familiar)?  They showed up knowing very well what they were about!  The safety briefing and pretty much all instruction was TPI right off the bat.  They had definitley not forgotten what they had learned at previous Project Appleseed events.  After the initial KD presentation, we got to shooting.  On the first AQT, we collected Personal Data at each distance.  Although that first AQT ran pretty slowly, it allowed the shooters to collect valuable information about their personal equipment and enabled them to shoot future AQTs with Battlesight Zero and/or Hold-overs.  The remainder of the AQTs were shot at a much faster pace.  Thank goodness we had R-Mack with his truck and the range truck to transport the shooters to/from their targets.  On Saturday, we had 6 rifleman scores.  Congratulations to: Stephen, Jon, Nathan, Todd, Luke and Arlen.  On Sunday Steve, Dan, Mark and John (iron sights) joined the KD rifleman club!  On Sunday we had two Distinguished scores: Luke scored a 48 and John shot a 47 with his iron sights!!!  We of course incorporated some history throughout the days - We heard The War of the Regulation and The Battle of Alamance on Saturday and some history review about April 19, 1775.  Sunday was a special morning as the KD shooters walked down and joined those at the 25m range.  There were no less than 70 people listening intently while Dee recited the Elegy from the Bloody Butchery poster and gunjunkie told the George Washington Battle of Trenton story. Fred was then also invited to say a few inspirational words. It was a moving morning to say the least.  Later at the KD event, we talked about Daniel Morgan just before shooting the shingle at 250 and welcoming 4 more shooters to Morgan's Rifleman: Carter, Jon, Nathan and John (iron sights).  Also as we gave out the William Diamond patches to our two 16 year old boys, we talked about William Diamond and the important roles that young boys and girls played during the Revolutionary War, and how important they are in maintaining the Liberty that we all enjoy today and that of their children.  We ended the day with a moment of silence and shooting the Memorial Volley in honor of those who paid the full price for Liberty that day. This Volley was the best I have ever heard.  Each round was like one single round  It sounded like a well-rehearsed volley by professionals!!  A special thanks to all of the instructors who did such a fantastic job: R-Mack, Wacky, Dee, DavidJr, and Fred!  Also a great big thank you to the range for hosting us!  I LOVE this range!!!  We appreciate all the hours of labor that have gone into making so many improvements to the range!!

This was indeed a great weekend. The synchronized memorial volley with the 25-meter event was very special, and even Fred participated!

It was great to be on the line as a participant with all of these talented instructors and fellow shooters. Thanks to JustKim for running a great event, and to all the instructors for helping everyone learn a ton. The number of official KD qualifying scores from the weekend is impressive, and everyone expanded their skill set and knowledge base. That includes the excellent young shooters who will no doubt be earning their patches and more if they choose to stick with it and come out for more KD fun!

Mark,

Thank you for posting this! Very excellent high-speed video on this, which was just cool to watch. I'm not sure I've ever seen better rifling effect and vapor traces on camera. I went looking for a MythBusters video I've heard about on the same topic, but I couldn't find it. I hope someone will let us know if that does exist.

Dan
