Title: AAR RBC Ramseur, NC April 12-17, 2026
Post by: JustKim on April 25, 2026, 11:06:39 AM
We had a fantastic six-day RBC at the beautiful Home Range in Ramseur, NC.  Thank you for hosting this awesome event, and a special thanks to all of those who put in hours of work to make all of the improvements to the range.  It is the nicest range I've ever been to.  We had six shooters on the line.  Unfortunately, one young man did not return after day one, but I am certain he will be back for another event.  We plan to keep in touch with him.  It was just a little more physical than he anticipated.  Mark (Cisero) and wife Cathy drove in from Maine to spend the week with us.  They are such a wonderful couple and an absolute blast to be around.  We truly enjoyed their company.  They are both part of the Project Appleseed team.  Cisero is an orange hat and Cathy accepted a blue hat.  Kelly drove in from Virginia and camped out at the range all week – no tent required.  She is one tough lady.  Her scores increased throughout the week.  Slow and Steady.  She is so close to that Rifleman score.  Timothy, as always, shot amazingly well.  He is an excellent shot with both his rifle and pistol, and a wealth of information.  If you want to know anything about milliradians – he's your man.  Now if we can just talk him into taking an orange hat.  He just doesn't have the extra time to commit right now, but hopefully he will in the future.  Last, but not least is our daughter Krista.  She flew in from Oregon to "see us action – to see what we do" and to do the cooking.  She arrived late on Monday and by first thing Tuesday morning scored a 228 on her first AQT of the day.  WHAT???  No, she had never shot positions before, but she listened and applied – thank you Dee for the great instruction and working with her on Monday!  We expect to be doing an event up in Oregon before too long.

If you have never attended an RBC, you should.  An RBC is six glorious days of shooting, but more importantly, sharing and listening to your favorite history.  Of course, we hear the three strikes (at least once, usually more), but oftentimes history you have never hear before.  We heard Chuck's infamous George Washington battle of Trenton story.  Dee has memorized the Elegy from the Bloody Butchery poster.  She started with explaining how they made the poster as eye-catching as possible at the time – the dark, thick borders and the two lines of dark black coffins along the top, and then recited the elegy for us with heartfelt emotion.  It was awesome!!  Doni, Proud Patriot moved us all with her rendition of the first strike as told from the perspective of Ruth Fiske Harrington – boy, there were some tears flowing during that one.  Fred challenged Krista to summarize the three strikes for him.  She did.  She came up with a poem and read it to all of us before her departure on Thursday.  She did have assistance from ChatGPT, but recognized some important players left out and had them added in.  In addition to all the history, we all ate all of our meals together and sat and chatted and learned more about each other, our second family.  At every RBC, we walk away better people, better instructors and with a better bigger family.  It is something that all instructors should experience, but be careful, because once you attend one, you will want to attend them all!!

We started off the week shooting at 25m, then on day 4 those who were ready moved up to the KD range.  Dee scored Rifleman at the KD – this was her first KD ever.  On day 5 we all shot pistol resulting in three new Pistoleer™™™s, Russ (R-Mack), Derry (Bulldog14), Evan (Recon82) and Kerry (Chief).  On day six we all went to the KD range and took a shot at becoming a member of Morgan's Rifleman.  Three people were successful in hitting the shingle.  Congratulations to Dee (IIT3) and Riley who hit the shingle their first shot.  This was Riley's first shot ever out of a centerfire rifle.  Waky (RH) hit the shingle from a supported standing position.  Immediately following the shot at Morgan's Shingle we shot the Memorial Volley.  As always, it was an emotional moment that touched all of those involved.  The volley is always such a special moment.  This pretty much ended the official events of the RBC, because the majority of the shooters had to head out early, but what a way to end an event.  As always, we were thanked for honoring those who died April 19, 1775 in such a special way.

A special thanks to all of the instructors who made this event such a success: the Giddings family: Bulldog14, Recon82, Lucky3, Free_Indeed, TheReluctantShooter, Skeet and RilosRed – always such a pleasure to work with you – you all are fantastic instructors.  R-Mack – the local boots on ground and more is always so supportive and works so well with the new shooters and orange hats!  Doni, thanks for working so hard with the shooters, you are a great instructor!  Alice, thanks for coming out and spending the last couple of days with us. Another special thanks out to all of the instructors who traveled from Florida: Waky and Mrs. Waky – thanks for running the pistol day.  DavidJr and Dee – are two of the best orange hats I have ever seen (soon to be red hats).  You two worked so hard and did such a great job of instructing – you are both incredible instructors and a wealth of information!  Of course, a great big special thanks to gunjunkie for keeping me in line, with his wisdom, knowledge and guidance.

Also thank you Fred for coming out and joining us.  We always enjoy you coming out and sharing your passion and vision of the program.  We can only hope that we are doing you proud!
