Title: Charlottesville, VA, AAR - April 18-19, 2026

What an amazing Patriot's Day weekend. 14 enthusiastic students showed up to improve their marksmanship skills, increase their knowledge and their comfort levels with their firearms, and to learn about the history of the founding of this great nation.

With 12 students being first time Appleseed attendees, we greeted two new riflemen to the ranks.

Jennifer & Patrick, congratulations on qualifying Rifleman at your first Appleseed event, with Daniel requalifying with a 218 and Nick with a 211. Huzzah!

Jennifer was knocking at the door with several scores in the low 200's and then pushed on and scored a 214!

Pat shot several rifleman scores, with a 212, 218, and a pair of 219's.

Daniel and Nick both requalified, Daniel with a 218 and Nick with a 211.

Everybody showed great improvement over the weekend, and with some more practice I expect to see more qualified rifleman from this group.

This was a very safe group, with several families bringing four youth shooters with them. They showed great attitudes (even during a short period of "liquid sunshine")and excellent safety awareness, and all four received William Diamond patches to recognize their efforts.

After the Battle of Lexington, General Percy wrote back to England about the colonial militia, stating "Whoever looks upon them as an irregular mob, will find himself very much mistaken. They have men amongst them who know very well what they are about."

This group knew "what they were about."

A special thanks to the Rivanna Rifle & Pistol club for hosting this event, and for obtaining special permission to commence shooting early on Sunday morning. Normally, shooting on Sundays commences at 1:30, in agreement with a local church. The club got special permission for us to start early, a rare occurrence, and we appreciate it.

Thanks to all the instructors who came out as well. Your professionalism and efforts are appreciated.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank everybody, students and cadre alike, for helping make my "final exam" for Shoot Boss successful. I attended my first Appleseed as a student almost 5 years ago at Rivanna, and I couldn't have made it this far without great students and a fantastic group of instructors.
