After weeks of unpredictable (and often miserable) North Idaho weather, we were treated to a weekend of absolutely glorious weather for our Patriots Day Rifle Clinic. Clear blue skies and moderate temperatures combined with the beautiful mountain setting of the Fernan Rod & Gun Club to set the stage for a very enjoyable and meaningful Patriots Day event.
Of the 20 shooters who signed up for the event, ten were attending an Appleseed event for the first time, and nine were youth shooters. We were happy to have a solid cadre of volunteers to be able to instruct and coach the group effectively. Many thanks to Mr. Clean, ARGunner, baldsincebirth, Schooner, and XJ for stepping up to instruct, and thanks to Beardo for helping things to run smoothly at his first event as an Applecore volunteer. Congratulations to both Schooner and XJ for progressing to their next levels as IITs, and thanks to Crazyhair for bringing Girl Scout cookies as well as some other goodies, and for volunteering to join Applecore!
We saw very substantial improvement in performance over the course of the weekend, as evidenced by the scores on the hits count targets and AQTs. Congratulations to Cory for qualifying as a Rifleman at his first Appleseed, and to Erik for qualifying twice, as well as "knocking on the door" of distinguished status with a top score of 234!
The entire group was a pleasure to work with, and we hope to see everyone on the line again at future events as you continue to develop and hone your skills.
