Title: Laramie, WY AAR 25M Apr 18-19 2026 Patriot's Day weekend!!
Post by: regularguy on April 20, 2026, 10:43:29 AM
We had another great Patriots Day event in Laramie, Wyoming on April 18th-19th 2026 at the Laramie Rifle Range.
Ten students and 10 instructors/AC came out for instruction.
We had three Applecore helping with registration.

We set up the range and after the pledge, we had some presentation items set the tone for the weekend.
Stephi_1, ALF, and Ranger all received their RWVA patches and Riflemen rockers. Ranger also was presented his Winterseed Patch (we had so many qualify at the last event I had to get more ordered). Also, Ranger was presented a "Son of Liberty" tab. Ridge Walker was presented his 50 event pin.
We then covered the standard course of fire, including safety and other topics, and did the first strike.
Shooters shot their red coats, received more instructions and square drills before we broke to the clubhouse for lunch and Strike Two.
Then, back to the range for more instruction and then set up for more drills and then Strike Three.
We shot the standard course of fire, which had the AQT broken up over the afternoon with instruction. We had one student requalify. We retired for the day after shooting a much-improved Red-Coat.

Day two.
After the Safety brief, instruction refreshers, and the new Prince Estabrook story, we made the line hot for hits count targets and then more instruction.
We shot a few more AQTs, and then broke for lunch where KD skills were taught along with a few DOM/DOW stories. We had several volunteers requal.
After lunch another AQT then the volley (we call M1BZRK so he could participate in spirit) then Captain Parker's revenge. A RFAQT, another AQT, then the red coat, and lastly students were able to shoot a variety of steel targets at 100 yards using a rimfire rifle. There were a majority of hits versus misses by all students using the brief KD skills they had been introduced to (on 4 – 8 MOA sized targets).

The big new: Tophand from NE came up and earned his red hat! Congratulations and welcome to the group (he also was presented with a Wyoming patch, since he has done several events with us). Lots of hard work, IBCs, and zoom calls took place to make sure he was ready and his IMC instruction went fantastic!
