We had a beautiful spring weekend for the first Pistol Clinic of the year. We had a great class with eleven students in attendance to improve their pistol marksmanship skills. We had two father and son pairs that attended the event which made the event more special.
We had two shooters who knew what they were all about and shot their Pistoleerâ„¢ score on the one PQT shot on Saturday. Congratulations to Mark and Mike. These two battled it out all weekend, and Mark went home with the high score at 217. The rest of the students showed improvement on the drill targets, but the time pressure of the PQT did not allow them to earn their patch.
We discussed a few different ways to practice marksmanship skills. The easiest and cheapest way to practice is with dry practice. Make sure your handgun is safe and that there is no ammo in the room. Practice all of the skills learned this weekend. To enhance dry practice, adding a laser to the handgun provides direct feedback to your trigger press. You can watch how steady the laser beam stays during the press. The next level of training device is a Mantis style electronic trainer. These type of devices will provide a trace of the movement of the barrel during practice. They are a bit expensive, but provide a great deal of feedback.
I enjoyed spending time with everyone this weekend and look forward to seeing you at another AS event in the future.
Sounds like a great event! O0
