Ran into a old Michigander Vietnam war vet in a Waffle House today. I thanked him for his service and said "Welcome home" We both kinda teared up.
His name is Jim, too! Nice fella!
Among the various topics we spoke on, he mentioned that the thing he really missed was "Big John's Steak and Onion Red Sauce". He was eating a cheesesteak bowl at the time. I've never had it, but this guy's eyes lit up talking about it. Supposed to be an excellent sauce. Waffle House Sauce didn't cut it, man.
I'd never heard of it, so I looked for it online, but I think it's some kind of state secret or something. Gotta get it at the restaurant, folks trying to duplicate it at home, hard to find except at midnight under a full moon, etc.
Here's my ask: Can I cajole/entice/beg someone to ship me a few bottles/case/whatever?
I think that'd be a great gift for him! Honestly, I'm interested to try it as well :)
I'll definitely reimburse all costs, including your lunch!, AND throw in a little something extra from the Lone Star State! O0
Any takers?
