I recently bought a used 10/22 and added the Ruger branded leather sling. I'll be attending a 25m Rifle Clinic in the spring and noticed the cotton rifle sling is recommended. Checking to see if the leather sling will work or should I get the cotton rifle sling? TY!
A cotton GI sling is highly recommended- available at the Appleseed Store(https://store.rwvaappleseed.com/page13.html) or online. The Ruger Leather sling is a very nice carry strap but we teach how to use a sling as an aid for precise shooting and the GI sling is the best option.

• *USGI style cotton web sling, 1-¼" wide. Much of our teaching centers around the use of this type
of sling! Tactical slings can be used but are not ideal.
I am not familiar with the Ruger branded leather sling. I would highly recommend a USGI shooting sling. (There are other slings out there that you can form a loop with like the 1907 or the RLS, but our teaching centers around the USGI and it is inexpensive)
According to my daily USPS email update they will be delivering today my order of the sling and swivels plus chamber indicators bought from the Appleseed store referenced above. I expect to be best equipped for the clinic with it since it's what they recommend and sell. Good luck with your decisions.
Thanks for the input. I'll order the sling!
