Title: What I do on the weekends when I'm not Instructing
Post by: MI-copperhead on December 13, 2025, 11:26:56 AM
My wife and compete with our Miniature Schnauzers in AKC agility. Two of our dogs made the agility invitationals in Orlando this weekend and if anyone is interested, I will be posting links to my videos on my YouTube channel. I am wearing my Project Appleseed shooting shirts and my instructor caps while I'm running as a way of promoting Project Appleseed.

Way to go Earl! That was fun to watch and see what you do in these competitions. Nice job promoting Appleseed too! (You and your partner are matched up well for speed, much better choice of breed then one of Sheps Border Collies.)

Thanks, Rick, I might have been able to do Border Collies 40 years ago, but the mini Schnauzers are a much better match and my wife has done an excellent job training them.

Saturday's Standard run

We had a dropped bar on the 4th obstacle that cost us a 5 point penalty

These were Sunday's runs.
(I had to tape my Hybrid off the AKC TV video due to a malfunction of my camera at the start of the run, so it looks different. )

We did pretty well all things considered,  finishing 52nd out of 125 12 inch jump height dogs.
We had fun and I got to tell several people about Project Appleseed.

I LOVE it!  :1luvu

You combined my 2 favorite things, dogs and Appleseed! Professionally I am a pet stylist and I've been grooming for over 20 years. I've worked within the pet industry, whether volunteering at shelters or working at pet stores for almost 25 years.

I love how he hopped through the weave poles! So cute. My Asst. Mgr has been doing agility for years. She runs pugs. Some of her previous dogs were an Aussie and a Boston. Always has a pug though. It's a great sport and perfect for a little tenacious terrier. ;)

Jack Russell's are my breed of choice. My last dog, Remington, we used to flush pheasant and I did Barn Hunt with. Unfortunately there are no earth dog events in NYS so Barn hunt was the next best thing.

If you're ever near Saratoga Springs NY and need a groomer let me know! LOL
