A Weekend to Remember: Appleseed's Awesome Event at Anne Arundel Fish & Game

This past weekend, the Appleseed community came together once again for an incredible event filled with learning, perseverance, and marksmanship achievement. From the moment the first shots rang out on Saturday morning to the final RedCoats on Sunday afternoon, participants brought their focus, grit, and enthusiasm—making it a truly memorable Appleseed.

One highlight of the weekend was seeing several participants earn their Rifleman patch. Achieving Rifleman is no small feat; it takes patience, steady improvement, and commitment to fundamentals. Each new Rifleman earned that patch the same way generations before them have—one properly executed shot at a time. Congratulations to all who reached that milestone!

John W. 234, 240 Distinguished
Simon W. 213, 221
Todd S. 224, 227
Domonic S. 214, 214, 232
Brian N. 214, 231

Even more impressive, Domonic S. and John W. earned Maryland's Immortal 400 patch after clearing their RedCoat target. This rare accomplishment reflects both precision and consistency under pressure, and it was inspiring for everyone on the line. Well done to both of our newest "Immortals"—you earned a place in Appleseed history!

We were also thrilled to welcome a Boy Scout group that traveled more than 3.5 hours and 183 miles from Pennsylvania to join us for the weekend. Their energy, positive attitudes, and eagerness to learn added a fantastic dynamic to the event. Watching young marksmen build confidence and skill—and helping them become safe, responsible shooters—is what Appleseed is all about.

Sunday brought its own challenges, as the wind decided to test everyone's patience and technique. Despite gusts that made steady positions and sight pictures more difficult, participants pushed through with determination. Many even improved their scores, showing that resilience is just as important as trigger control.

Events like this don't happen without the support of great people and great partners. A huge thank you to all our participants—whether you earned a patch or simply took steps forward in your marksmanship journey, we appreciate your hard work and great attitudes throughout the weekend.

Our sincere thanks also go to Anne Arundel Fish & Game for their generous use of the range and clubhouse. Their support makes events like these possible, and we're grateful for such a welcoming and well-maintained facility.

And of course, a heartfelt thank-you to our dedicated instructors, who spent their weekend teaching history, coaching shooters, and ensuring a safe and productive environment for everyone. Your time, passion, and expertise make the Appleseed program what it is.

All in all, it was an exceptional weekend—full of accomplishments, camaraderie, and shared appreciation for marksmanship and heritage. We're already looking forward to the next event. Until then...

Keep your powder dry, and see you on the line!
