What a great weekend at Canter's Cave 4-H Camp in Jackson, Ohio! It was an outstanding setting in that it was both an excellent range for an Appleseed and we could enjoy the fall colors all around us courtesy of the rugged hills and woodlands of southeastern Ohio.
Thanks to all the instructors that came out to help! Special thanks to Shep, DocWilli, and Skald for telling the strikes. Thanks to ChiefLane, Blackbird, and Skald (again) for telling the DOMs. Also thanks to Michelle for telling the story of Betty Zane! Thanks to Sheepdog180 and BlackKnight for teaching the Marksmanship on Saturday.
We were especially blessed to have Buzzard there who provided a hot lunch.
We had 7 shooters sign up for this event but several walk-ons (including instructors taking advantage of some open spots on the firing line to keep their skills sharp).
Congratulations to Nick and Nathan for scoring rifleman! And congrats to all those who cleared their redcoats!
The weather was chilly, damp, and overcast with progressively stronger winds. I think Providence intervened to hold off the worst of it, we persisted, and it paid off. The rain and snow flurries held off just long enough for us to get through Sunday mid afternoon when we were ready to head home.
Thanks to Canter's Cave 4-H camp - we are looking forward to more events there in 2026!

What a great shoot on a wonderful new venue. Thanks go to Navy Shooter for all the ground work with Canter's Cave 4-H Camp, a truly amazing facility with multiple ranges. Hopefully we'll have many more shoots there in the years to come. Thanks also go to Griffin, for Shoot Bossing his first shoot there; it is always extra work and planning and setting up at a new range.
Congrats Griffin on a successful first SB experience!! It's great to see you SBing! Good Looking group of shooters and instructors!!
Thank you =)
Hoping to get organized enough to host more in 2026!
Happy new year!
