The weekend started off cool, then got warm, before storming and getting cold again. Typical weather for Ohio this time of year.
We had a great very attentive and engaged class. We started Saturday with some history and then the safety rules and safe rifle. We shot a hits count target with 13 shooters. 8 got three hits on the 100, 8 on the 200, 5 on the 300, 2 on the 400, 3 hitting the shingle, and 1 shooter cleared the target!
Skald gave instruction on to the positions and steady hold factors, and then the six steps of firing a shot and natural point of aim.
At lunch, we heard history from Buzzard and inches, minutes, clicks from Doc Willi.
We then heard about talking targets from Skald.
Before the day ended, we shot an AQT with DblSchott scoring a 211, Danton scoring a 226, and Anna scoring a 212.
We ended the day with a hits count target with 12 shooters. 12 got three hits on the 100, 9 on the 200, 6 on the 300, 4 on the 400, 6 hitting the shingle, and 2 shooters cleared the target!
we started Sunday with NavyShooter giving a review of the safety before shooting a hits count target. We had 12 shooters. 11 got three hits on the 100, 10 on the 200, 7 on the 300, 4 on the 400, 4 hitting the shingle, and 3 shooters cleared the target!
We moved into carding the sights drill with great results. With storms and high winds moving into the area, we decided to shoot AQTs and then the final hits count target before picking up the range and moving up to the clubhouse for more instruction. We completed 4 AQTs with DblSchott getting a 229, Danton getting 232, 234, 233, and 214, Anna etting a 216, Hosannah getting a 210 and 215, and Talon getting a 214! On the hits count target, which was shot in a downpour, we had 13 shooters. 9 got three hits on the 100, 6 on the 200, 7 on the 300, 3 on the 400, 6 hitting the shingle, and 3 shooters cleared the target!
In the clubhouse we attempted to dry out and listened to Skald give a talk about known distance. we then head about dangerous old men and ladies.
Even with the weather turning bad, this was a great shoot with really great people in the class. everyone was very safe and we saw very good improvement in the scores.
I want to thank Coshocton Gun Club for hosting this shoot and DblSchott for doing so much work to prepare the range for the weekend. I also want to thank the instructors for their fine job.
Pictures will be coming soon.
I hope to see all of you at another class sometime.
