What a beautiful Florida fall weekend for an Appleseed! 20 shooters gathered in Palm Bay to soak in some history and marksmanship. It's always great to see youth shooters join us, and this was no exception- half the line!

Our first redcoats showed lots of opportunity for improvement, so we got to work. The groups shrank and before lunch we showed great progress. Some quick sight adjustments after lunch and we were on our way to our first AQT of the weekend. Saturday's AQT didn't reveal any riflemen, but with several scores in the 180s we had high hopes for Sunday. Our highest score of the day was a 186 from Abigail- one of our youth shooters. Amazing!

Sunday's review showed everyone was really paying attention Saturday- all that knowledge sank in overnight! With our first AQT before lunch, our shooters were inching ever closer to that elusive 210 but didn't quite make it there. Lunch seems to have offered Wes an opportunity to recharge, his first AQT of the afternoon showing his highest score of the weekend (211) to earn the Rifleman patch. We continued through the afternoon, eventually minting one more Rifleman- Jacob with a 236. Now he's got the distinguished bug and wants to chase those extra 4 points.

I want to give a special shout-out to Anny and Abigail- doing an Appleseed shoot two weekends in a row and smiling at the end of it is awesome. To see you both turn in scores through the weekend in the high 150s-180s, even better. I'm looking forward to seeing both of you back with us soon.

To all the shooters, well done. I saw tremendous improvement from each and every one of you throughout the weekend. If you didn't earn a patch this time, remember, a Rifleman persists. Dry fire, practice those transitions, study your guidebooks, and come back again.

As always, thank you to the Port Malabar Rifle & Pistol Club, a premier shooting sports destination in Central Florida.
