Title: Tech Sights do custom?
Post by: jollynator on May 06, 2009, 11:34:20 AM
Does anyone know if TS does custom sights?  I am saving up for a new bolt action MBR (Savage 111gc-.30-06) and would love to use the same sight picture as my M1/TS.

Shot one a while back with the accutrigger and loved it (.17hrmr 5 shot group 25 yards loop sling prone that ya could cover with a dime). O0

I'm hooked on safe hair triggers!!! 8) 8)

jolly

Good luck with that.  Sent Tech Sights an e-mail about two weeks ago asking if their
sights for the Marlin 60 and 795 rifles would also work on the 980 bolt action Marlin.

No response.  No "we'll check into it", Not even a "We don't know."  Just silence.

Really like the sights (got them on my 10/22).
Not impressed with the customer service.

(Anyone here happen to know if the Marlin Tech Sights can be installed on the 980 bolt action Marlin?)

Looks like it should work with the marlin techsites. The rear receiver per marlin's website is grooved for a scope and I have found that every marlin (Other than lever actions) that I have worked on have the same threads up front.

You should be good to go with techsites marlin sites.

I would not expect them to be in the business of custom sights.  They have been advertising AK sights as "coming soon" for quite a long time.  I would not expect that this is a large operation.  As such, they would have a very small staff.  I would actually dissagree with your premise and state for the record that their customer service has been just fine.  Not answering a single E-mail is not evidence of deliberate wrong doing.  E-mail them again and also try calling.  They have always been helpful to me whenever I need their assistance.

Call them, you'll probably speak to Larry himself, as it is a very small company.

I've spoken to him before, found him to be a good guy.

He MIGHT take you up on making some stuff, and as was said about the AK sights, sometimes things happen slowly.

That being said, he may have gotten inquiries about the same application before, and may know how to adapt an existing product.

Some of this you may be able to figure out on your own, just see if everything from a current setup lines up well or not. I'm sure somebody near you may have a Marlin 60 or 795 you can comparea to.

I've only bought one set of sights from them, and sent them one e-mail,
so I'll defer to your greater experience in dealing with them.

Not answering a single E-mail is not evidence of deliberate wrong doing.

Not implying any sort of deliberate wrong doing.  Just sloppy service.
Ignoring customer inquiries regarding one's product line or services
is a time-honored manner of driving off potential business.  But ok,
based on your recommendation, I'll give them another try.

As stated, they're small, and ended up with much mor ebusiness than they ever expected or dreamed of.

So, they get overwhelmed from time to time, like everybody else does.

Don't e-mail him, call him.

I know when the LTR project hit the street 2 years ago, he got overwhelmed quickly. I had spoken to him, he told me as much.

As others have said, Tech Sights is a very small outfit.  I appreciate the fact that they don't take on too much--even at the height of the "all things gun" buy-up mania, I got my sights quickly.  Here is a similar company: http://www.mojosights.com/  Gun Parts has a lot of them:
