Special thanks to the Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen's Assn. for hosting us yet again. They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic. They have invited us back there again next year, and we are in the process of setting the schedule.
The weather was not great either day, but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of marksmanship and heritage! The shooters all persevered through the rain and greatly improved as the weekend progressed. We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage. A few equipment issues were quickly corrected by the knowledgeable staff. History and heritage were well received and there were some great discussions.
One shooter could not return on Sunday, but we worked through Sunday morning drills, an early lunch with KD, and then on to AQT's. Everyone showed great improvement as the day progressed, especially on the last AQT and Redcoat. The shooters had the process down pretty well, so we proceeded at a good pace. The Time Monkey stayed off our backs, and quite a few AQT's were shot.
The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets. We have FOUR Riflemen new to Appleseed who shot score for the first time, with borrowed rifles and iron sights. In addition to one who requalified! Huzza! Three shooters also cleared the Redcoat target. Huzza!
And we have two new Orange Hats to add, one to the PA cadre (Adam) and one for GA (Doug). Doug was also bathed in the water of the North Bridge for an exact Rifleman score of 210 on the last AQT, having been just short a few times before. Huzza!
Thanks to all the shooters, instructors and the Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen's Assn. for a great weekend.
What a great group! Thanks for making this party crasher feel welcome, Pennsylvania. I'm so glad I was able to join you :)
I'm afraid I only got the one photo :slap:
A great time was had by all!
