What a great weekend at the Illinois State Rifle Association's Range. They continue to be great supporter of our program. Thank you to the range, it's members, the RSOs, and volunteers that help maintain the place. We had the pleasure of using new backers for the weekend. What a great way to start our weekend.
We started Saturday morning greeting several return participants. It is always great to see friends from prior events. The weekend ended up with 3 families filling most of the line. I love that about our program. After the safety brief, we engaged our first Hits Count Target of the weekend. We had 7 out of 8 clear 100 yds. The numbers dropped pretty fast beyond that. We had work to do. With an incredible crew providing instruction and personal coaching, groups started to shrink quickly. Some sight adjustments were made after a session on IMC. We started working on the first AQT as we provided instruction on transitions, Sitting, and Standing positions. The final scores on that first AQT showed promise for great things on Sunday. After hearing our 3 strikes and a day full of instruction, our last Hits Count scores were impressive. 4 of the 8 shooters cleared the 400 yd target. We closed out the day by presenting our 3 youth with a William Diamond Patch.
We came back Sunday ready for some review and more AQTs. Our first Hits Count target showed all 8 clean the 100 yd target and 4 cleaned 200. What a nice way to start the day. We added some more ball and dummy work to identify ways to improve our shooting. The day ended with 4 new Riflemen. Congratulations to Cathy, Brad, Steve, and Jackson. for our last Hits Count Target of the weekend, 5 of the 8 made the Shingle shot. What a great testament to our program.
I want to thank the crew of JHB, Myrradah, ChuckA, Windrunner, Warriorpoet, and BigMike for all the help making this a successful event.
Its always a great time at the ISRA Range. I had a great time with friens, old and new, plus the smile on Annabelle's face clearing 200 yds on the Sunday AM redcoat made all the aches worth it.
