Title: WHO'S RUNNING OREGON THESE DAYS?
Post by: Ironbar on September 30, 2025, 05:19:28 PM
It's been a very long time since I attended and / or worked an Appleseed event. I see there's one scheduled for November at Douglas Ridge. So who's running it?

I'm seeing a lot of names associated with Oregon that I know are no longer around: Whit, Kimber, Janer, etc.

Please let me know!

All signs point to Prescott.

This thread has a listing of all state and regional coordinators as well as other points of contact:

Good to hear from you Jeff.

Currently, I am once again running the events in Oregon until a self sufficient crew can be built up.  There are a couple good Oregon based IITs that have been helping out at the events at DRRC.  I am hoping that a RH in the Seattle area will be going through the SBIT program next year and will take on running OR events.

I am going to talk to the Chelam Valley range and see if we can run a few events there as well.  It is hard to rebuild the program with only 1-2 events per year.

I'm am retiring at the end of 2025, and will be looking to expand the ranges we teach at. I would love to get a class in Pendleton OR, or even in SE Oregon. Try to see if we can move away from the I-5 corridor.

We have done events in La Grande, OR and I could likely get us back on at the range.

I had discussions with the Tri-Cities Shooting Association in Benton City, WA.  Their property is owned jointly by the BLM and the county.  The board is overly protective of the manner in which an event is run at their range, so the discussions to have an event at their range has stalled.   I will try to find the time to attend a board meeting to see if discussions can begin again.

I was contacted a few years ago by a member at the East End Rod & Gun Club in Milton-Freewater, and they were interested in having an event.  As this was before my time as the RC, I passed on the request to the higher powers.

I guess I just missed the event at DRRC in November. I'm hoping to see another rifle event coming up soon so I don't have to go up to Bothell. Any chance that's going to happen this year?

I just received approval at DRRC to hold a 25m rifle event on May 30/31, 2026.   I will get this posted on the Appleseed calendar today.

I have requested a couple date for the Chehalem Valley Sportsman Club range in Dundee, but have not been sent confirmation for the event approval.   Keep an eye on the Oregon calendar for these events.

There should also be some events at the Firearms Academy of Seattle range in Onalaska, WA this year.  That will save you a trip all the way to Bothell.
