Title: AAR Evansville, IN 9/20-21/2025, Red Brush Rifle Range

What we lacked in numbers was made up for in the spirit of the participants!

It was a great 25-meter, 2-day course at Red Brush Rifle Range outside of Evansville, Indiana.  Several family and business emergencies dropped our numbers from typical levels to two shooters on the line.  But their enthusiasm more than made up for that!

John came with a mission to earn his patch after attending a shoot held by the Northern Hoosier cadre.  Having regularly done dry practice between then and now, he came ready for action.  In the first two AQTs of the day he put up a score of 237 both times!  Congrats, John!  We look forward to seeing you at the KD in October!

Henry came with a mission to knock the rust off.  As an experienced shooter he had a good basis. His first two AQTs were 204 and 206, knocking on the door of earning his Rifleman patch.  Throughout the two days, his shooting became smoother and smoother.  As he commented, he was remembering how to ride the bike, but he just wasn't yet to the point of doing wheelies on that first day.  We were confident that he would break 210 on Sunday.  Unfortunately, two equipment errors raised their ugly head.  He had an AR magazine which malfunctioned causing him to lose multiple shots on a stage for which the AQT otherwise was great.  And he experienced a wandering zero problem which we identified as related to barrel temperature.  Henry, we look forward to seeing you on the line again!

We had to shut the shoot down earlier than we wanted on Sunday as storms rolled in with lightning.  But I would like to express my gratitude to the instructor staff, ShootNDrive, AlexandraTheGreat, Darkfoot, and Big John, who seamlessly adjusted to changes in the order of the course of instruction so we could get all the information provided despite the wind blowing down our target line and the random rain.  Great Job.  And congrats to AlexandraTheGreat and Darkfoot who requalified with 214 and 218, respectively.

Finally, I would like to congratulate ShootNDrive who turned in his blue hat for an orange one.  You did well!

Pics to follow.

This was a good shoot. The weather was mostly cooperative and the two shooters had great enthusiasm and perseverance, along with good results. We hope both shooters return for more Appleseed.
