Special thanks to the range. United Sportsmens Inc. They have been absolutely great to us and we can't thank them enough for hosting Project Appleseed.
What a glorious weekend for America!
Weather was great! A bit warm but breezy.
A nice group of mostly first time Appleseeders. A lot of learning, a lot of shooting, and a lot of improvements!
Congratulations Brandon, first event and scored a 213 Rifleman!
Lots of sharpshooter scores.
Will was one miss away from clearing the Hits Count target, almost there!
Special thanks to the instructors, couldn't do it without you guys.
Here's our newly minted Concord Rifleman!
Thanks for all the help, support, and knowledge! It was cathartic to "unlearn" a lot of bad habits from ~30 years of shooting, and learning new habits and skills, like how to properly use a sling to aid in shooting. I've lived my entire life thinking slings were solely for carrying a rifle.
I can't wait to come back to my next Appleseed event. I already ordered a lot of goodies from the Appleseed store and plan to upgrade my 10/22 a little bit after realizing where it needs improvement.
Big thanks to all 5 wonderful instructors from this weekend.

Thank you for a great first Appleseed experience!

Nice work everyone.
Thank you for the wonderful comments about your experience.
It was a great day! I think this was the best weather I've experienced at USI -- not hot, not wet, very nice!
And asa always, it was a great group of instructors and students. Thanks for the great day, everyone!
My personal improvements in the AQT this time over previous events were mostly in stages 2 and 3 where I'm having fewer "brain farts" and picking up the pace enough to actually finish the stages before the cease fire. I used to have a lot of mistakes where I would either forget it was time do the mag change and waste time on carefully aiming a "click", fumble the mag change, or lose count of holes in paper for each target. I'm not doing that anymore (at least not very much).
And I've also picked up the pace enough to not have rounds left over in stages 2 and 3 when the cease fire is called. I used to have several rounds left over most of the time. Part of the improvement is having fewer mixups that cost time like I mentioned. And part of it is getting into position quicker, then getting "good enough" NPOA to start firing, and then trusting it for each target.
I haven't had time to really analyze my targets and scores yet, but I would say probably my top score has only improved by a few points over last clinic, but my consistency and average score are probably way up due to more consistent stages 2 and 3 and getting all my rounds off each time.
I've also got the action on my 10/22 running great. It was never very bad, but in the past I would have at least a few malfunctions with failure to extract or failure to feed rounds all the way into battery. I've upgraded some parts and have learned better ways to clean and lube the gun, and this time I did not have a single malfunction of the action. I did have a few problems with a sling QD swivel that was tough to connect and came loose during use a couple of times, which was very frustrating. It was a new type I was trying out, and I'm going to swap the old one back in.
I'm hoping to do at least one more 25m at Concord this year, probably November 15-16, and maybe October 25-26 too if time permits. And I've signed up for the Rimfire KD in Sacramento on October 18-19. Hopefully I'll see some familiar students and instructors again before the year is out and some new faces too!
I think that's it for my personal report. Thanks again to everyone!

It was great meeting you and your dad at the event. I read and commented on your report. That's a great and detailed report! Those notes are going to be a great tool for you going forward.

The instructors did a great job describing your upcoming Rimfire KD in Sacramento next month. I'm signed up and looking forward to it!
Someone from this event won the monthly drawing for the Palmetto State Armory $1,000 gift card drawing! I watched the drawing video and was surprised to see the winner was from this event.
