I don't like to argue very much. But if you tell me there is a finer way to spend a late August weekend than with this collection of dedicated patriots at the Cherokee Rod & Gun Club in Kingsport, Tennessee, I will bite my cheek and strenuously disagree. The skies were clear and just a shade deeper than my beloved Carolina blue. The temperature was perfect for a sweatshirt in the morning and a Project Appleseed T-shirt in the afternoon. Eight shooters of all ages and experience levels joined together and created an instant community along with their instructors. It made the learning process very fun and rewarding!
This group particularly embodied the suggestion to bring a teachable attitude. They soaked up the instruction and improved their shooting tremendously from the beginning of the two-day clinic to the end, as proven by their Hits Count targets and AQT scores. The group engaged attentively in the stories of the founding of America in April 1775, and they dug deep to understand some of the finer nuances of expert rifle marksmanship.
Highlights included Sue punching out scores of 211 and 238 on AQT's and subsequently accepting an orange hat as an instructor-in-training, shooters stepping up to serve as models for position review on Sunday, a lively Known Distance conversation with lots of great questions, shooters testing their technique at 100 yard targets, the shoot boss and a pair of pre-teen shooters attempting to chase marauding deer from the range, and a lot of smiles and laughs throughout the entire event. It was agreed all around that we should definitely do this again.
Huzzah to all!

Welcome Sue!! Thanks for stepping up!
The Cherokee Rod and Gun Club in Kingsport is so pretty! The weather was perfect in the mornings and only a little hot in the afternoons. It was great to see 3 generations and 3 families shooting/volunteering together along with a couple of shooters visiting from VA - come back and see us soon

These deer had no fear. We (2 and 4 leggeds alike) are thankful for the shooters' eagle eyes and ability to cease firing so quickly.
