Perfect summer weather made it a joy to be outdoors on the pistol range at the Piqua Fish and Game, celebrating our heritage and discussing the events that led to the founding of our Great Nation. Ten shooters eagerly participated in the opening Hits Count target, and results showed that most had some room for improvement.
It is very rewarding, from an instructor's point of view, to see the steady improvement of the group gained from each layer of instruction. This was the first meaningful experience shooting pistols for some of the students, however, anyone walking by the range on Sunday afternoon would have thought they had been shooting for years. The confidence displayed by the shooters (especially the ladies) as they slammed home magazines and engaged their targets was impressive!
We added two new Pistoleer™s to our list, Matt P., shot an impressive 230 score with Iron sights on Saturday's Pistol Qualification Test. Mike J., earned his patch on Sunday with a 213 score. Buzzard was on the line for a bit on Sunday and re-qualified with a 213.
Steady improvement was seen through the weekend, we're hoping everyone will continue practicing and be ready to earn their Pistoleer™ patch at the next event!
