Hey All!
Burnett (Greg) here. Due to recent life changes, I may be looking to relocate. To where? I dunno. A friend of mine suggested that I don't have anything making me stay where I am anymore, so I maybe should look into going somewhere to start over. Maine is one of the places that came to mind.
I DO NOT like hot; cold does not bother me. I know we try to stay apolitical, I don't want to go somewhere too liberal. I'll be 55 next month, so nowhere near a spring chicken. I have experience as a welder and truck driver, but I don't want to go over the road. I have had a l4-l5 fusion in my spine so that limits how much bending, lifting, squatting kind of stuff I can do. I do have my part 107 commercial pilot's license, but no working experience with that.
As for Appleseed, I am a newly minted Shoot Boss.
What kind of things are available in Maine? Good parts or bad parts of the state?
How easy is it to find a job? What kind of living experience is it? Cost of living?
Would anyone be willing to communicate (possibly talk on the phone) to fill me in?
Thanks,
Greg
Hey, Greg - there's not too much activity in this forum but you might try the Maine subreddit (I think reddit might even have a subreddit for folks looking to move to Maine). My only caution to you would be that economic opportunity may be limited here and real estate costs have risen in the last few years here, so unless you've got a plan for work and/or economic means, you might think twice. I don't know how costs of living compare to other places but folks near me on fixed incomes don't seem to love it too much (and I can tell you that my own income hasn't kept pace with the cost of living here). All of that said, it's a pretty decent place to live, especially if you like to get outside for recreation, hunting, etc. -- and I plan on staying, personally.
