Title: Kellogg, ID, July 12-13, 2025, RKD AAR
Post by: Prescott on July 15, 2025, 12:33:36 AM
I always love spending time in Northern Idaho, and I feel that I am blessed that it is my responsibility to run the KD events up here.  A wonderful weekend was had by all in the pursuit of either new or perfecting rifleman skills.  There was a combination of new and repeat RKD participants and everyone did great throughout the weekend.

As usual at a KD event, Saturday was started with the Morgans shingle cold bore shot at 125 yards.  Only one shooter, Dane, was able to make the shot.  The next goal on Saturday was for the the shooter to get their come ups through the four target distances (50/100/150/200yds).  Once that was accomplished, there was still time to shoot a couple AQT.  Ryan shot his first RKD rifleman score while Abby, Barry and Tom shot a re-qualification score to their previous RKD score.   Tom shot the weekend high score of 47 hits, one away from the KD distinguished score (oh so close).

Sunday was also started with the cold bore shot at the Morgans shingle.  Michael was the only shooter to connect with the shingle.  Then through the process of shooting AQT, Andy was able to get his first RKD rifleman score.  Mark was able to shoot a re-qualification score.

I would like to thank the Ford family for all the set up of the range.   The AS flags out along the edge of the target line was a great way to spread the Patriotic spirit and also provide wind flags for the shooters.

The couple shooters that did not score their RKD score came very close that that accomplishment.  There was some challenging wind gusts on both afternoons and this can play havoc at 200 yards.   The good thing about the wind is....you can only learn to shoot in the wind by shooting in the wind!  Hopefully everyone gained a better understanding of the effects of wind on your bullet.

Concur about the weekend being a great event! I learned a ton, and can't wait for the next one. Any day spent shooting in the woods of N Idaho with good people is a good day, and we had 2 of them, plus a pile of solid info and plenty of challenges to make us better. Both thumbs way up.
