Special thanks to the Beaver Valley Rifle & Pistol Club for hosting us this past weekend. They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed event. And we have a 200 yard Rimfire KD scheduled there in October!
We all had a great weekend of marksmanship and heritage. Six beginning shooters joined us for the entire weekend, persevering through the heat and humidity of our first taste of summer. Everyone greatly improved as the weekend progressed. We began on the shooting benches with rifle rests, then without the rests and next without the benches, working through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage. There were quite a few rifle fit and equipment issues that were corrected throughout the weekend, necessitating loaner rifles, slings and other equipment. Folks were very receptive to the course of instruction, as well as the history and heritage.
Everyone returned on Sunday, and we worked from laser rifles through more instruction and practice, and all showed great improvement as the day progressed. The heat got to us late in the day and we shot an AQT and a Redcoat to end the day.
