Title: AAR Annapolis, MD June 14-15,2025
Post by: Agent711 on June 16, 2025, 03:00:58 PM
Another filled line in Annapolis with several returnees and some new participants. Spent a good portion of our first morning ensuring our rifles were sighted in. Brian's straight out of the box 10/22 presented an initial challenge to get on paper. The help of our bore sighter likely saved some time, and this rifle too was sighted in given just a few squares. With rifles sighted, shooters were able to dedicate all morning to perfecting the 6 steps of firing a shot and other fundamentals.

Our host range stopped by midmorning to asking for assistance with a short ceremony in celebration of the 250-year anniversary of the army. At 1200, I kicked off the ceremony conveying that the history of the National Guard and the U.S. Army share historical similarities. Both with roots back to the colonial militias of the 1600s. Events from our first strike added some emotional facts before we witnessed a 21-gun salute performed by range members.

At the end of day 1, Stephen successfully earned his first rifleman score and Simon cleared his Hits Count target.

Our second day was filled with more successes and fun was had by all. We saw three more Rifleman scores and Brian N. was able to clear his Hits Count target. Having heard the rest of the second and third strikes of the match, after lunch we divided into two teams then shooters had a fun time strategizing and engaging the Parker's Revenge target. Every shooter saw increased scores; the Rifleman patch narrowly escaping their clutches. Several shooters missed clearing the Hits Count target by just one miss. So, I anticipate presenting more patches at their next event.

The following shooters are recognized for their accomplishments.
Earning the Immortal 400 patch for clearing their Hits Count Target were:
Brain H
Simon E

These shooters earned their Rifleman qualification:
Scott R - 239 (requalified)
Simon E - 234 (requalified)
Nicholas L - 217
Stephen B - 219

Many thanks to our Maryland volunteers (Lycos and Phoebe) who unselfishly dedicated their time to making this event successful. And thanks to our host range, Anne Arundel Fish & Game, for continuing to support Project Appleseed!

Here are some pics. Instructors, please post your pics for all to see too. Huzzah!
