We had an amazing group of Americans out at Lapeer County Sportsman's Club (https://www.lapeersportsmens.org/) last weekend for another sold-out event with a waiting list, but this time 12 of the 15 participants were attending Appleseed for the very first time. Twelve newcomers! It's been a while since I've seen that ratio of new attendees, and we really enjoyed getting the opportunity to work with all of you.
Our group of 15 shooters had some other unique qualities: we had five family units of 2+ members - fathers were out there with their daughters, sons on the line with their dads; it is great to see this tradition being shared across generations. And a third of our line was composed of youth shooters ranging in age from 9 to 17, and five of our shooters were young women - also great to see!
One of our new shooters pulled out all the stops on Stage 2 and earned his Rifleman patch - congratulations, Adam!! Miriam also requalified at this event with Rifleman score of 213 - excellent shooting as always, Miriam!
We had five teams of shooters competing to inflict maximum damage on Col Smith's column during our Parker's Revenge shoot, but the Ellis fam pulled away from the pack with an impressive score of 47/75! Nicely done, ladies :)
Overall we saw great improvement in marksmanship skills from all of our shooters over the course of the weekend. I know some of you were just starting out on your journey and getting comfortable with your equipment and new shooting positions (and sorting out your Natural Point of Aim!) - we hope you stick with it and come back to work with us again. As we love to say at Appleseed: "A Rifleman Persists!"
Thanks for being so engaged during our history presentations as well - it was an honor to be able to share those stories with you. Special thanks to Roundballer for giving everyone a detailed look at the equipment the American colonists were working with along battle road 250 years ago.
Last but not least, thanks to our amazing crew of volunteers - MrSurplus, PocketWatch, Hardcase and Miki - we couldn't do it without you!
