Special thanks to the Daisytown Sportsmens Club for hosting us this past weekend. They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic. And they have invited us back again next year!
We all had a good weekend of marksmanship and heritage. The shooters persevered through the wind and greatly improved as the weekend progressed. We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage. There were quite a few equipment issues that were corrected throughout the weekend, necessitating loaner rifles, slings and other equipment, and ammunition malfunctions as well. Thanks to the NRA, we had plenty of new CCI Standard Velocity to hand out, which helped immensely. Folks were generally receptive to the course of instruction, as well as the history and heritage.
Everyone returned on Sunday, and we worked through more instruction and AQT's, and all showed great improvement as the day progressed. The team Redcoat was a great hit, won by the Orange team. Several AQT's were shot, and a Smallest Group contest, won by Tim and Eshton.
The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets, and we have two new Rifleman to add to our cadre – Kim and Tim – as well as one who requalified, John Michael, who shot a distinguished score as well of 241! Several others were very close to becoming Rifleman, scoring in the low 200's. And three cleared the Redcoat target, several for the first time! Huzza!
Thanks to all the shooters and the Daisytown Sportsmens Club for a great weekend.
