We had a great weekend in Griffin at the Griffin Gun Range. Many thanks to the range members who opened and closed gates and spent some time with us. While we'd like to see more shooters, the shooters we had were awesome both in skill and attitude! The pictures will show that we didn't have much to do in terms of instruction, although Yankee Davey did a great job adding little tips and tricks that most definitely helped each shooter improve.
Saturday night I got to have dinner with 2 shooters, 3 range members (one doubles as an IIT and his mom makes the best blueberry banana bread I've had - thanks for sharing!!!). Later, depending on how close everyone was to the city, we all got to sleep listening to the tornado sirens. Ahhhh, peaceful. A southerner once told me that it's only dangerous when the sky turns purple or green. We were fine.

Yankee Davey kicked off Saturday with the First Strike. It's great to hear the Strikes from different volunteers. Many add facts I hadn't remembered or never heard of.

First Hits Count of the weekend. Keep an eye on Harold's targets - you'll see a pattern forming.

We went over some review for all these repeat Appleseeders. This is our first square of the day. Five shots, one hole. Not too shabby, Adam.

10 holes in 2 squares, 2 shooters, first square. I mentioned we didn't have to do a lot of instruction, right? These guys are awesome!

Yankee Davey called the line all day on Saturday.

We were ready for our first AQT by mid afternoon. Harold scored a 222! Congratulations! He scored a 230 on Sunday morning.

I had met Josh before at a known distance shoot. He was using iron sights and barely missed a rifleman score. I'm guessing he's practiced a bit between then and now. He not only scored rifleman for the first time, he earned a distinguished patch too with a 230. He switched to his scoped rifle and earned a respectable 238 and 236. The last score was on a hasty AQT he shot in 3 1/2 minutes.

Saturday was spent just trying to perfect their stances. I'd say they did pretty good!

All of them looked this good.

End of day one. Three shooters, three cleared Hits Count targets. Nice job!

AK47sharpshooter aka Adam has decided to rejoin the Appleseed family as an IIT again after a brief 10ish year hiatus. Welcome back!

A cool multi-tool that replaces an entire range bag pocket full of inferior tools.

We're thankful we all survived the tornado warnings through the night. Yankee Davey and I could have slept in Sunday morning. The shooters covered the entire review with very little prompting.

Sunday morning Hits Count target. If you've been keeping count, Harold has cleared all 3 of his Hits Counts targets. Unfortunately, he left early due to conditions of the day and the beginnings of a cold. We have no doubt he would have cleared the afternoon target as well.

Back at that perfect practice. Nice hat.

Josh earned a distinguished patch for iron sights and scoped rifles. Great shooting!
We all loved the new Parker's Revenge target. Instructor vs. Shooter shot in relay. Strategy is important on that one. I won't say who beat who, but it was won only by a single shot and quite a bit of luck.
I hope to see all of you again soon - bring a friend!
Looks like a great event! Congratulations Josh! Welcome back AK47Sharpshooter! And great to see Harold out there again kicking butt as usual!
Sounds like you all had a great shoot! Thanks to all involved.
