April 19th Four Shooters embark on the First Pistol Clinic of New Mexico. The weather was cold with some light snow forecasted. We started the day with Range set up and safety brief. Shooting the first Hits Count target went smooth.
As we started shooting for the day snow started to fall. We had a 10x10 shelter we could warm up a little and get out of the weather. We started the instruction and saw Shooter progression. The snow continued to fall.
The range offered a classroom for us to take lunch in. We took our lunch and covered the 2nd and 3rd strike. We covered the Onion of Self Defense. We warmed up and headed back out. There was between 4 and 6 inches of snow that had fallen since we started in the morning.
As we were getting ready to shoot, the range owner stopped by and said they were closing the range due to weather. We cleared the line and packed up.
As we were leaving the range, a Shooter from a neighboring bay got stuck on the road. We stopped to help them out. We got them moving and heading home. There would be one more hill where drivers needed help. The drive to the main road too about an hour, almost 50 minutes longer than normal.
Overall, the first Appleseed Pistol Clinic of New Mexico was a better snowman building event. We are looking forward to having another Pistol Event this year, with some help from other states.
