The Henry County Sportsmen's Association in Liberty Center, Ohio was the venue for a special 20th year Project Appleseed celebration and a 250th year remembrance of the launch of American independence at Lexington and Concord.
Some great instruction and history presentations from Third Degree, Headhunter, and Topper! Very moving memorial volley on Sunday.

Mark with a distinguished tab!
The Henry County Sportsmen's Association in Liberty Center served as the venue for the April 2025 Appleseed 25-meter rifle clinic. We enjoyed access to the newly constructed club house and range. The experience level of the students allowed a quick pace through the various levels of instruction.
Saturday morning Redcoat had 5 shooters. One student cleared the target (Ashley S.). In Ohio a special Appleseed patch is reserved for those who master the Redcoat. Ashley S. would not be the only recipient this weekend.
Four AQTs were fired during Saturday afternoon. Across all of those targets, 3 shooters requalified as Riflemen (Ashley S. – 239/224/223; Mark S. – 235/222/240; Eric L. – 229). Mark S., with a score of 240 qualified to receive the Distinguished tab.
The Saturday afternoon Redcoat had 5 shooters. Of this group 2 cleared the target (Ashley S. and Mark S.) Mark S. received the Ohio Appleseed patch for this achievement.
The Sunday morning Redcoat was posted and shot, which kicked off a series of exercises focused on honing skills that were introduced on Saturday. These exercises were conducted by Headhunter.
Three AQTs were fired for record during Sunday afternoon. Across all of those targets, 5 shooters requalified as Riflemen (Ashley S. – 234; Mark S. – 225/220/215; Eric L. – 234; Shane G. – 224; Austin F. – 222).
The fun drill on Sunday afternoon was Parker's Revenge. Three fire teams were organized (the A Team; Team M squared; Team 3 Amigos). After the smoke had cleared, the A Team won the match with a score of 57, followed by the 3 Amigos with 50. Team M squared fired a 24.
The Memorial Volley commenced at precisely 4:00 p.m. Six shooters participated. The reading aloud the names of those killed in action on April 19 forces you to think about their ultimate sacrifice. Their down payment purchased the liberty we all enjoy today. They must not be forgotten. One shooter cleared the Redcoat target (Shane G.).
I would like to conclude by thanking the Henry County Sportsmen's Association for permitting Appleseed to use the club house and range this past weekend. Many thanks to Headhunter and Topper for serving as instructors. I would like to give a special mention about progress made by Mike W. and Lentz. Mike, you were very close on the AQTs. Keep up the good work! Lentz, you made significant improvements on Saturday. From my own experience I know it is hard to use a centerfire rifle during your first Appleseed. A rifleman is persistent. Baily, you were the other centerfire rifle (.308) on the line. You are an experienced Rifleman and enjoy the challenge of harnessing the power of that long range cartridge. Keep up the good work. Congratulations to those who requalified as Riflemen (Ashley S.; Mark S.; Eric L.; Shane G.; Austin F.). Congratulations to those who earned the coveted Ohio Appleseed patch (Ashley S.; Mark S.; Shane G.). A special call out to Mark S. for earning the Distinguished tab with a score of 240. Best wishes to all! See you on the trail.
