Title: Griffin, GA AAR - Apr 13, 2025 Pistol
Post by: upacreek on April 14, 2025, 02:21:07 PM
What a great day for a Pistol Clinic!

Huge thanks to Griffin Gun Club for once again hosting us at their fantastic range. The atmosphere was electric—punctuated by the occasional burst of automatic gunfire, a powerful reminder of the freedoms and liberty we like to talk about at Appleseed events. It got a little loud at times, but let's be honest—we all loved it.

I resisted the strong urge to see what was going on at the other bay.  This is what I imagine it looked like.

The weather couldn't have been better, and both shooters and instructors brought their A-game. Special shoutout to our resident Appleseed shooter, Tim, who 7th-stepped bringing his daughter and her boyfriend. They were impressively safe and attentive, which gave us the chance to get a few more instructors on the shooting line.  A big thanks to Roswell, a rock solid instructor and mentor.  His tips for instructing instructors and shooters help us all improve with every shoot.

Big congratulations to Yankee Davey, who earned his Pistoleer™ patch this weekend! It's been a journey of patience and persistence, and he crushed it—scoring perfect or near-perfect on multiple stages yesterday in Macon and here in Griffin. Zinthous and Mechanic were right on his heels, missing the patch by just a shot or two—so close!

Everyone showed solid progress. Hats off to Tyler for pushing himself by running a smaller 9mm—learning to shoot better with what you actually carry is a smart move. While his choice made patching a bit more of a challenge, his score improved over 60% by day's end. That's no small feat!

As for Tim and his daughter, their scores held steady throughout the day, but their groupings tightened up nicely—a clear sign of growth.

We ended the day reading a short excerpt of the Bloody Butchery publication, a memorial volley, and thanking everyone for coming out for liberty.

Great people, great learning, great day.  I hope to see everyone again.  I was having too much fun to get the camera out much.  Please share if you took any.

Mechanic gave a great second strike.  We are very lucky to have so many history buffs among us.  Yankee Davey threw in some more history adding details to the strikes when we had some down time.

Thank you to our gracious hosts, Griffin Gun Club! This was a small event that I feel made it very special. I love watching families come to our events, and it was great seeing Tim there with his. The day started off chilly but later proved to be a beautiful day. Another awesome Patriots' Day event!

I did go and check on our neighbors in the other bay... for safety reasons.  I am happy to report that it was only semi-automatic fire and they were being super safe. :~
