Special thanks to the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club for hosting us yet again. They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic. And we will be returning there twice more this year!
The weather was not very hospitable either day – drizzle, damp and cool - but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of marksmanship and heritage! The shooters all persevered through the rain and cold and greatly improved as the weekend progressed. We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage. There were quite a few equipment issues that were corrected throughout the weekend, and ammunition malfunctions as well. Thanks to the NRA, we had plenty of new CCI Standard Velocity to hand out, which helped immensely. Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction. History and heritage were well received and there were some great discussions.
One shooter could not return on Sunday, but the rest worked through more instruction and AQT's, and all showed great improvement as the day progressed. Unfortunately, the Time Monkey was on our backs the whole weekend due to equipment issues, but everyone maintained a very positive attitude. Parker's Revenge was a great hit, won by the left side team 57 to 55. Several AQT's (including one Rapid Fire AQT) were shot, along with the Memorial Volley at precisely 4:00 pm (which included several M1's and 1903's!).
The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets, and we have four new Rifleman to add to our cadre – Conway, Win, Adam and Ernesto. And seven cleared the Redcoat target as well, several for the first time! Huzza!
