It was a clear, brisk weekend in the Land of Enchantment, with the Sacramento Mountains in front of us, and White Sands National Park behind us. The new "Instructors Only" bay at the Sidney Paul Gordon Shooting Range in La Luz, NM is just SUPER shiny! Our thanks to Mark and Chelsie, and the SPG crew for making us welcome and building this awesome bay away from the rest to minimize distraction. :bow:
8 determined ladies and two intrepid menfolk came to learn and grow, along with the instructors.
As always, we started the weekend with introductions and an overview of the weekend's activities, then launched into the First Strike of the Match.
After a solid performance in our first Redcoat of the weekend, we got to work.
Sling, NPOA, Six Steps, Prone, IMC, seated, standing, and more.... Every lesson built upon the last, and our shooters just soaked it up along with the New Mexico sunshine.
Everyone made obvious improvement, conducted themselves safely, absorbed the history, and wanted more.
LateByProxy, Waco Kid, HotairBill, Captwa, and LoanerRifle told stories of determination, skill, danger, and perseverance. They reminded us all of the strength and honor of those who bought and paid for our Liberty with their blood, sweat, tears, and even their very lives.
Special congrats to Caron and Kevin for re-qualifying as Riflemen! Huzzah! Several others were just a-knocking on that door. Remember, Riflemen Persist!
