Seeing your breath in the morning in Florida is a novelty. The first day of March gave us this opportunity, but the "Florida cold"™ gave way to weather that would be the envy of Appleseeders across the country.
Gathering at Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club, four out of five attendees were at their first Project Appleseed event. They did not disappoint the instructors, with their good attitudes and enthusiasm for learning the American tradition of marksmanship. They also learnt how marksmanship fits into the very fabric of American history with passionate strikes from our instructors.
By the end of Saturday, we had completed two AQTs and there was a great deal of improvement in the red-coat scores. Ra'Naia, our youth shooter, was presented with a William Diamond patch. Our instructors greatly appreciated her enthusiasm for history.
Sunday held four more AQTs before our shooters had been thoroughly worn out. Andre and Yamil achieved Marksman scores, and Dan shot a respectable 195 Sharpshooter score. Instructor Kevin requalified with his centerfire. Thank you to all attendees for their efforts. We hope to see you again at our next event in May.
My thanks to a fine group of Appleseed instructors in The Menace, Pirategirl, Sea Sniper, and Trident.
Last, but certainly not least, our thanks also go to the Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club for being such gracious hosts.
