It was a fantastic shoot at Hurlburt Field this weekend. The weather was a little cool in the morning but bright and crisp the rest of the day. Ideal Appleseed weather.
Of the 16 shooters on the line, 7 were juniors, ages 10 to 15. Having so many youngsters in attendance was heartwarming. The up-and-coming generation is getting involved and so are their parents. Many of the shooters on the line were participating in Appleseed as a family.
"Smiles" participated as a volunteer for the first time this weekend. She did a fantastic job taking on the role of IIT. She is only 14. She represents the future of this program, and I can't wait to watch her progress.
Several of our IITs, Smiles, Brambo911 and Konaboy, requalified. Konaboy did it with a near perfect score of 247!
One of our first time students, Crystal, who attended with her family, was the only riflewoman this weekend. Most of the other shooters were right on her heels and will score next time.
I want to thank the Hurlburt Field Rifle and Pistol Club for hosting Project Appleseed. They continue to be supportive. They have hosted us for many years and, I hope, will do so for many more.

This was a great weekend. We had an awesome group of patriots on the line and a fantastic group of instructors. It was a special weekend for me as I watched Mrs Waky, someone I have worked with her whole time in the program, earn her Green hat. Congratulations Christine, wear it with pride.
